About Alfriston Court
Alfriston Court is part of the Chanctonbury Healthcare Group of homes. It has been designed to be a luxurious care home in the fabulous location of Alfriston village, nestled in the Cuckmere Valley in between Polegate and Seaford.

We believe that Alfriston Court gives an unparalleled experience, set as it is in the Sussex Downs National Park. Each large room is individually designed, most with fabulous views and some with patios or balconies. All rooms come with a telephone, television, and spacious en suite with toilet and hand basin. Couples suites may also be available.

We pride ourselves on high quality food at Alfriston Court. We aim for each resident to have a personalised menu, and trained staff will support our residents with nutrition and hydration when needed.

Our dedicated activities team support residents to enjoy a variety of hobbies, social and recreational activities, including community events. Whether you prefer to join in music and movement or try your hand at gardening in our stunning four acres of land, there will be something for you!

Alfriston Court is a residential and nursing home and is very professional in the provision of nursing and caring services and the home manager is a high qualified nurse. Supporting him are a well-qualified and experience group of RGNs and dedicated care and support staff.

Fees

Fees for residential care start at £1000 per week depending on room chosen and the needs of the resident.
Our fees for nursing start at £1250 per week. This is not inclusive of funded nursing care (FNC). FNC is funding provided by the NHS to nursing homes to support the provision of nursing care by a registered nurse for those assessed as eligible.
Our weekly fees are fully inclusive. They cover accommodation, food and snacks, cleaning and support services, laundry, entertainment and activities, care and where required, nursing – there are no hidden costs. The only extra costs for you are in-room telephones, hairdressing, chiropody, toiletries, and your own travel.
For clarity, prospective permanent residents are asked to complete a simple financial questionnaire, which will ensure that a minimum of two years of funding is available.
We do recognise that there is often a requirement for speedy decisions to be made for nursing enquiries. We will give such enquiries our urgent attention.

What People Tell us

“Alfriston Court was perfect for [my father]. He was happy and settled and really well looked after. The staff were wonderful with him and when I picked him up he was relaxed and content. His room was really nice and with a lovely view, I asked him how the food was and he said ‘very good’. I will be using Alfriston Court from now on for respite.” – Elizabeth O

“All staff are always very welcoming and helpful for all mum’s needs. Mum has improved in her general wellbeing and shows this by her happiness and responsiveness. The atmosphere is fresh and enjoyable in the shared and her own private area.” – Gary H

“Mum has now been a resident for over a year during which time she has received excellent care from sympathetic and kindly staff. Organised activities and trips out to various venues are a great help in keeping the residents occupied and active wherever possible.” – Linda C

Dining

Dining at Alfriston

The Downs restaurant is very luxurious with wonderful ambience and looks out onto the South Downs. The menu is prepared on a daily basis according to the tastes of our residents and we cater for all kinds of different personal requirements. All our food is fresh and our chefs have an enviable reputation for the quality and taste of their food.
Breakfast is served in bed and consists of whatever our residents require, toast or porridge or cereal or fresh fruit or a combination. For the more hearty appetites a cooked breakfast can be taken in The Downs Restaurant. Of course it all comes with a lovely cup of tea or coffee and fruit juice if required.

Typically lunch starts in The Downs Lounge where residents sit and have a glass of sherry, and then they take their places in the restaurant and are served ‘silver service’ style at the table, which allows our residents to have the portion size that suits them. We recognise how over-facing it can be to be served with a ready-made-up plate of food that is far too much to be comfortably eaten, unless one has a hearty appetite. To help our wonderful food to go down we serve good wines. Once our wonderful sweet is finished then coffee is served in The Downs Lounge. Tasteful and relaxing!

Supper can be taken in ones room and again the menu is prepared based on our residents likes. If a more formal dinner is required then this can be taken in The Downs Restaurant, in much the same way as lunch.

During the day we provide room service for tea or coffee and biscuits or cake, to residents and their visitors. Visitors are able to join residents at lunch for a very modest charge.

Lunch Club

Our restaurant at Alfriston Court is well known as we have Lunch Clubs on a Wednesday and Sunday with many regulars returning time and again. If you would like to visit us and take part in our Lunch Club, then please telephone 01323 874 140 and ask David for details. It is a good way to get to know us or to get to know Alfriston Village, as it is a short walk away.

There is a set standard menu on each of the Lunch Club days and the charge is £5 per person. You are then welcome to have a look around or just sit in our comfortable lounge and take in the wonderful views.
