Wealden Dementia Action Alliance

Nearly 3,000 people in Wealden are living with dementia, and we at Chanctonbury Healthcare want to ensure that each of them is supported fully by the people and organisations around them. That’s why we are proud members of the Wealden Dementia Action Alliance who aim to:

  • Working with Dementia Friends Champions, raise awareness of Dementia in the various businesses and voluntary sector within the area, including leisure facilities.
  • Raise awareness of dementia in Wealden to ensure we are inclusive of people with dementia and carers to help improve their ability to remain independent and have choice and control over their lives
  • Create a Dementia Friendly Community, so that people with dementia and those who care for them are encouraged to seek help and are supported by their community
  • To continue to consult with people with dementia to find out how best to support them to be able to enjoy living in our town (1)

Our community team also act as chair in the Polegate forum of the action alliance, working to make direct changes to improve the lives of people living with dementia in and around Polegate.
