A care home in Alfriston has taken home a national award as Care Home of the Year in the South.

Alfriston Court Nursing Home, part of the Chanctonbury Healthcare group, have taken home the Care Home of the Year (South) award at the Caring UK awards. The glittering awards ceremony took place at the Athena in Leicester, was hosted by the BBC’s Steve White and welcomed over 500 attendees. Alfriston Court was shortlisted amongst care homes across the south of England located from North Walsham to East Devon and ultimately took home the prize.

The judges said that Alfriston Court “has a real homely feel. It’s down to the individual team members and their care of each resident – from the huge smiles on their faces every morning to constantly enriching their lives and providing great care.”

They continued to say that the residents are “encouraged to give feedback on all aspects of their care and support, which allows them to feel more in control of their lives. and able to make a differenced themselves and helps the home keep in tip-top shape.”

Alfriston Court has been open as a care home since 2008, offering residential and nursing care to up to 26 residents. The team have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic and are immensely proud to have been recognised in these awards.

Operations Director Sandy Atkins said “I am immensely proud of all the team at the home. Through uncertain and challenging times they have continued to make Alfriston Court a wonderful place to live for all of our residents. It is a very special group of people and we feel very fortunate to work with each one of them.”
