The staff at The Queensmead are amazing. My auntie is being cared for really well. We didn’t think she would have settled so well but has now been there a year, and loves it – especially the food! Well done to everyone at The Queensmead – you’re the best!.
Winter Warmers
Winters at Queensmead have a firm focus on looking after body, mind and spirit. Our activities will always include exercise that is tailored to each resident, whether that’s pulling on a jacket and taking a tour of the grounds for health and wellbeing or taking part in chair-based yoga for mobility and energy. Our winter programme includes a range of indoor activities that will delight, engage and entertain our residents, from quizzes to coffee mornings and our ever-popular arts and crafts sessions.

Care Personalised
We tailor our care to our residents’ needs all year round, but the winter months can see an increase in seasonal colds and weather-related conditions. As well as personalising plans on a general health and wellbeing basis, we take extra special care to monitor our residents in the darker months. We watch out for coughs and sniffles and keep an eye on infection control. Some people can find the winter a hard time of year. We check in with all of our residents and chat to them to see how their mood is. We’ll make sure that we spend time with everyone.
The Best of the Season
Our menus change to reflect the best in produce with every season. For winter, we focus on warming soups and stews, alongside favourites and classics, that are packed with vitamins and nutrients to support immune systems. Our meals are filling and comforting without being unhealthy. There’ll always be a place for a slice of home-made cake and a cuppa but our chefs team works tirelessly to create healthy and wholesome menus.
Fabulous Facilities
Our home was designed and developed to ensure that our residents can easily find their way from place to place, so that they can stay independent. Our en-suite rooms are warm and cosy and offer privacy but, if company is required, our bright, happy communal areas are a few moments away. Our community comes together several times a day to dine together; this is often the time that they plan their days and make agreements to attend activities with their friends.
While we encourage and support resident-led decisions, our compassionate care and support teams are on hand to help our residents make the most of their days and find out everything that’s happening. There will always be time for a chat and our staff will really listen to what our residents are telling them. With our residents and staff such a tight-knit community, we keep the winter at bay in Queensmead.
